Why should I/my family register with Saint Mary's Parish?
Registration is a commitment to our community, a way to be included in the religious, social and ministerial activities of our parish. Your registration affects the parish in many ways. Census numbers can determine how many priests are assigned to a church, what benefits and obligations the community has to the diocese, and how Masses, reconciliation and devotions are planned and scheduled. Registration shows you belong. It is also necessary for certain benefits, like scheduling sacraments, obtaining sponsor certificates, and getting donation statements for taxes. It lets us support you and count on you, to call on you to assist in our mission.
You will be issued an identification number to use on any contributions you make. Soon you will begin receiving collection envelopes, the Catholic Virginian Newspaper, and official church mailings inviting you to sacramental preparation for your children when they reach milestones, to participate in our directory and census programs, and when you are seeking to receive a sacrament or serve as a sponsor to someone who is being baptized or confirmed you will be on record already.
How do I register with Saint Mary's Parish?
To register simply pick up a welcome packet from our church office during office hours or from the Narthex registration desk any time the church is open.
Complete the blue form (both sides) including as much information about each member of your family as possible. You may also complete a Time and Talent Stewardship Form to volunteer or get more involved in our ministry and social groups. Return the forms the church office for the secretary to enter your family into our records.
You can return the form using the method most convenient to you:
- To the church office M-Th 9am-3pm, or F 9am-12noon.
- To the collection basket at any weekend or holy day mass.
- To the staff mailbox in the parish library any time the church is open.
