The Knights’ motto is: “In Service to One, In Service to All.” In pursuit thereof, the Knights of Columbus is a dynamic Catholic, Family, Fraternal Organization of Catholic men. Their core principles are Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism, focusing their energies on the following areas of activity: Church, Family, Community, Youth and Council.
The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic service organization in the world, with over 1.8 million members and over 13,000 local councils. Founded in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, the Knights celebrated their 125th year of its founding in 2007.
Our local council is the Father Edward Fox Council #6747, which, in addition to St. Mary’s, also serves the parishes of Holy Spirit (Christiansburg) and Holy Family (Pearisburg). It was established in 1975. Monthly business meetings, which are open to any knight in good standing, are held on the second Wednesday of each month, 7:30 pm at the council home at 400 College Ave., NW in Christiansburg.
The local Assembly of the 4th degree is Father James A. Burge #2707. The Assembly, which was established in 2001, meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the council home in Christiansburg.
