Charlene Flick has been in nursing since 1973.
I started as an LPN then received two degrees, a BSN and BA. Also I am a CDE (certified diabetes educator).
I earned certification as a parish nurse or FCN (faith community nurse) about four years ago.
I was diabetes educator for more than 10 years at the former Radford Hospital where I was responsible for all diabetic patients within the hospital and as outpatients. I organized and directed a diabetes day camp and an asthma camp for kids through Radford Community Hospital which was held at Radford University.
During the past 10 years I was a public health nurse in Montgomery County. I have been president of the local American Association of Diabetes Educators chapter (MRADE Mountain Region Association of Diabetes Educators) three times.
My experience includes working in the emergency room at Montgomery Regional Hospital and in doctors’ offices.
