NRVYM is for High Schoolers (9th-12th) and Middle Schoolers (6th-8th) in the New River Valley. The saying goes, “the longest distance in the world is from the head to the heart.” The goal of NRVYM is for teens to do just that: bring their Catholic faith from the head to the heart, living fully alive with God at the center of their lives. It is intended as a complementary piece to our Religious Education Program and to prepare them for life after high school. The majority of NRVYM is no cost to you.
See what we do below: High School “Heartbeat” Small Group (bi-weekly) | Wed 7:30-9pm @ St. Mary’s Grow in Christ-centered friendship with fellow teens and adult volunteers as we dive into our faith and relate it to our modern high school culture. Ask the questions you always wanted to ask and learn about how to live life in Christ as a teenager.
High School “Oasis” - Prayer, Fellowship, Sacraments (monthly) | time, date, and location varies Join all the NRVYM high schoolers at one of the 3 parishes for an evening to refocus our lives on Christ. Come for free dinner and fellowship, confession opportunity, and time spent in Adoration with our Lord as we practice different types of personal prayer.
“Middle School Meetup” (monthly) | Fri 7:30-9pm @ St. Mary’s Join all the NRVYM middle schoolers as we come together for fellowship and games, a deep dive into our faith, small group discussions, and prayer. Middle school is tough! Let’s walk it together with Christ-centered friendships.
Outings (Mainly HS some MS age) | time, date, and location varies Join us for a variety of outings throughout the year, such as: feeding the homeless in Roanoke, hikes, campfires, sports, and movies. Additionally, we attend a number of Diocesan youth events and service trips like DYC, Workcamp, and others. We might even go to World Youth Day 2023 in Portugal!
